Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 14, 2026
EF Taxcodes ("Error Free Taxcodes," "we," "us") is a tax-preparation service of Alumni Consulting LLC. Protecting your personal information is central to how we work. This policy explains what we collect through this website, how we use it, and how we protect it.
The short version
- This website collects only basic contact details (name, email, phone, service needed) through our lead form — never tax documents, Social Security numbers, or IDs.
- Sensitive tax documents are exchanged only through our secure, encrypted client portal — never by email, text, or social media.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Optional analytics cookies run only if you accept them.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you submit the "Request your secure link" form, we collect your full name, email address, phone number, and the type of service you're interested in. We use this to respond to your inquiry and send you an invitation to our secure client portal. Please do not include sensitive information (such as your SSN) in this form — it isn't needed at this stage.
Tax and identity documents
Documents needed to prepare your return (such as W-2s, 1099s, photo ID, and Social Security numbers) are collected only through our dedicated encrypted client portal, which protects your data in transit and at rest. This website itself does not accept or store tax documents. As a paid tax-preparation firm, we safeguard client data consistent with the FTC Safeguards Rule and IRS Publication 4557.
Information collected automatically
If — and only if — you accept analytics cookies in our consent banner, we use a standard analytics service (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device type). If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, request time) for security and reliability.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiry and set up your secure portal access
- To prepare and file your tax returns, once you become a client
- To communicate with you about your return, deadlines, and our services
- To operate, secure, and improve this website
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Federal law (IRC §7216) strictly limits how tax preparers may use and disclose tax return information; we disclose it only with your consent or as required or permitted by law (for example, e-filing your return with the IRS and state tax authorities). Service providers that support our work — such as our secure portal provider, form-processing service, and website host — receive only the information needed to perform their function.
How we protect information
- Sensitive documents are exchanged only through an encrypted client portal (protected in transit and at rest)
- This website is served over HTTPS
- Access to client information is limited and password-protected
- We maintain data-security practices aligned with the FTC Safeguards Rule and IRS Publication 4557 for tax professionals
Important: For your protection, we will never ask you to send tax documents, your SSN, or photos of your ID by email, text message, or social media. If you receive such a request that appears to come from us, do not respond — contact us directly at 612-438-5458.
Cookies
The site uses only the cookies necessary for it to function, plus optional analytics cookies that run solely with your consent. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, after which the consent banner will appear again.
Data retention
We keep lead-form submissions for as long as needed to respond and follow up. Client tax records are retained as required by IRS record-keeping rules and applicable law, then securely deleted.
Your rights and choices
You may contact us at any time to ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete information we are not legally required to keep. Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional privacy rights under state law.
Children's privacy
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them online. Dependent information needed for a tax return is provided by the taxpayer through the secure portal.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will post the new version here with an updated date.
